LOME is an association in accordance with the French law of 1901. The purpose of the association is to promote the arts of fire in all their forms and techniques.

The initial spark of this adventure was an encounter.
That of a gallery owner and an artist. This encounter took place at place Saint-Sulpice in Paris. The gallery owner was in search of a strong, non-utilitarian expression of ceramics, and the artist was looking for a gallery with which she could engage in a sincere dialogue. Not long afterwards, an exhibition was organised at a gallery on rue Chapon, which gave rise to numerous stimulating conversations on ceramics and its place among the arts.

On one hand, Jean-Yves Mesguich, with 30 years of experience in the world of art, a lecturer, expert and founder of art fairs such as the Salon du Dessin Contemporain today known as Drawing Now.

And on the other, Hélène Loussier, a painter who had fallen in love with clay, who took part in contemporary art fairs, had exhibitions in galleries, whose works had been shown at the Piscine in Roubaix. She helped organise the Journées de la Céramique at place Saint-Sulpice, and she dreamt of seeing ceramics achieve the recognition it deserves in the realm of art.

Shortly afterwards, an art historian, Clotilde Scordia, joined the team. A specialist of modern and contemporary Turkish art, she has been working for over 10 years on archives and collections of artists’ studios, and is a regular writer.

These diverse points of view gave rise to CERAMIXO, with the desire to offer a tailor-made service to the exhibiting galleries.

The welcome it has received from players in the world of art has provided for the formation of a prestigious selection committee.

Lastly, a splendid location was found in the heart of Paris, allowing a small number of selected galleries to champion the new forms of expression of these age-old mediums.
